UPDATE 07/22/09 -- 2009 set lists up thru july 20th are now on the concert chronology. please keep using this thread for future sets!
Hi everyone, To accomodate people who want to keep track of Sonic Youth's 2009 tour set lists on a nightly basis, and to give myself a break from the self-imposed guilt trip of not being able to update the Concert Chronology as often as I'd like, I thought it would be wise to have a single thread to post set lists in, which I can link from the Concert Chronology so even if I'm not adding the sets nightly once the tour is underway, people still know where to go to get them. The idea isn't to post show reviews and everything in this thread, I fully encourage individual threads for every show, as every show is an experience in itself. Just a quick simple post in here with the date, city, venue, and set list (preferably a proper set list that you've taken note of during the show, or from a recording, not just "well they opened with 100% and did a few songs off Goo, then mostly new stuff"), with no subsequent discussion necessary. 07/16/09 -- Tulsa, OK (confirmed) Tom Violence Sacred Trickster No Way Calming the Snake Hey Joni Poison Arrow Walkin Blue Antenna Leaky Lifeboat Catholic Block Malibu Gas Station Anti-Orgasm Massage the History -- What We Know Expressway to Yr Skull -- 'Cross the Breeze 07/17/09 St Louis, MO (confirmed) No Way Sacred Trickster Calming the Snake Stereo Sanctity Walkin Blue Poison Arrow Malibu Gas Station What We Know Antenna Leaky Lifeboat Hey Joni Anti-Orgasm Massage the History -- The Sprawl Cross the Breeze -- Shadow of a Doubt Death Valley '69 07/18/09 -- Kansas City, MO Tom Violence No Way Sacred Trickster Calming the Snake Walkin Blue Poison Arrow Malibu Gas Station Antenna Leaky Lifeboat White Kross Massage the History Silver Rocket -- The Wonder Hyperstation -- What We Know PCH 07/20/09 - Good idea- I'm at their first Europe date on the 22nd so I shall make efforts to put all the relevant 'stuff' in the relevant threads...
Only 2 songs from The Eternal, this seems strange, I definately expected more... |

Hey! Stop trying to encourage discussion!
Seriously though, if we could limit posts in this thread to JUST set lists (ie: no posts until the next show is over) to reduce clutter, that would be much appreciated.

Ok here's the Scala London 27/04/09 setlist
She Is Not Alone Bull In The heather No Way Sacred Trickster Hey Joni Tom Violence Calming The Snake Antenna Making The Nature Scene Schizophrenia New song with Lee vocals I'm guessing it's 'What We Know', but I could be wrong The Sprawl 'Cross The Breeze The World Looks Red Brother James Kool Thing No Noise jam at the end... but do you know what it didn't matter because they were so great and so on it. I pushed my way to the front and had an amazing view together with (what seemed like) a bunch of teenagers. It was very surreal and exciting to see so many people (old enough to be my son/daughter) getting off on Brother James and 'Cross The Breeze etc. Sorry I just had to say that. 'Cross The Breeze was definitely one of the highlights... just astonishing. Also my wish came true to see them start with She is Not Alone. Of the new songs the one that I enjoyed the most was Antenna it was fucking orgasmic...I can't wait to hear it again tomorrow when the BEGN streaming starts. Here's a little collage that I took of Thurston during The World Looks Red. it was taken on my iphone so the quality isn't that great but you get the idea... Also it was a great pleasure to meet Blunderbuss properly... I salute you sir! over and out.
