I seem to spend most of my time around there. I really like the tunings for Teenage Riot too, a lot of fucking fun. The earlier Sonic is the more experimental, after Washing Machine they essentially fell back onto two or three.. I used to really enjoy fucking up the guitar center by randomly tuning all their guitars into different Sonic tunings when playing around on them. I haven't really been messing around in alt-tunings lately, not even the drop-D, writing a lot of new stuff in standard. Got handicapped by playing in reggae and jam bands..

Do you mean to listen to, or to use?
I like GGDDD#D# but it's only good for SY songs or else it's impossible not to rip them off. The recent open D tuning is nice. Kim's really low mid-90s tunings. mmm |

I use CGDGCD and DADA#CF tunings in my guitars (gauges 0.54, 0.42, 0.32, 0.20p, 0.16, 0.12).
Thurston's tuning in Diamond Sea sounds really great and I've always liked tunings used in Teenage Riot (GGDDGG, GABDEG) and Schizophrenia (DDDDAA). |
