The lyrics sound pretentious / arty, don’t they?

Love the instrumental / repetitive vibe of the song though

Sometimes I think Sonic Youth were far too successful for their own good.

You would think Thurston's lyric writing would be more elevated by now (with years of wisdom and experience), but he's simply [whispering] the poetic truths of high school journal keepers. Very sophomoric. Very cringe, IMO.

I don't rlly care for the song too much, and I'm sorry the ALBUM COVER?! Looks like something I'd make in middle school when I was on snapchat in 2015.

Thurston and Kim both wrote absolutely fine lyrics up until circa 2000 when Thurston decided he was a poet and Kim became a cultural commentator

One could argue Kim has always been a cultural commentor, even since the debut EP, however, she simply did it in a more artful, less direct approach.
