Best new/most anticipated albums of 2024!!!!
You know the drill.
What new or upcoming albums are you looking forward to? What albums would you like to see drop this year? • I’m really gonna need a new full-length DJ Koze album ASAP. Usually drops every 5 years but failed to do so in 2023. • Frank Ocean needs to come out with something for fuck’s sake. • Fuck Buttons won’t happen but wouldn’t it be nice if it did? • Whatever happened to Todd Terje? It’s been LITERAL CENTURIES since It’s Album Time. Ok. Cool. |
Mary Halvorson - Cloudward (January 19)
Sleater-Kinney - Little Rope (January 19) Anna Calvi - Peaky Blinders Original Score: Seasons 5 & 6 (January 26) The Paranoid Style - The Interrogator (officially February 2, but it's already available on CD at their online store) J Mascis - What Do We Do Now (February 2) Sonic Youth - Walls Have Ears (February 9) Itasca - Imitation Of War (February 9) Mary Timony - Untame The Tiger (February 23) |
I just read that "a live collab [between Brian Eno and] Can" is "soon to be released for the first time". HOLY SHIT!

Looking forward to new work in 2024 from the following artists:
- Bell Witch. Apparently they've already recorded the 2nd and 3rd part of the Future's Shadow saga (or whatever it is to be called), so I guess the 2nd part will come out in 2024, 3rd part in 2025, maybe around April like part 1 ? - Amenra. Not sure if but anything would be good by them - GGGOLDDD. I'm addicted to this band it's all doom and gloom Also, the last Silver Mt Zion full length album was released in 2014. Which makes 2024 the most perfect year for a 10 year anniversary reunion tour & album!! Always curious for a new Mono full length album. But the last couple of albums I didn't like as much, so let's see Artists I've promised myself I will listen to more often in this year, both new and old work: Big Brave Phil Elverum (of The Microphones and Mt Eerie). Too bad his albums aren't available for streaming on bandcamp ... oh they do have that box set again, but it's €267.11, plus €97.54 shipping. Maybe a nice birthday present ;) |

Leaving out the ones without titles (My Bloody Valentine? Seriously? I mean, beyond awesome if it happens, but...), these surprised me - and they shouldn't have! Where the fuck was I when they were announced? 90 Day Men – We Blame Chicago Colin Newman – Bastard (ETA: reissue of 1997 album, with an extra disc of goodness) The Dream Syndicate – Live Through The Past, Darkly Buffalo Tom – Jump Rope Richard Thompson – Ship To Shore The 90 Day Men release appears to be a massive (complete discography?) box on Numero Group. If you're not familiar with them, Brian Case (Disappears, FACS) and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe were members. Now, what exactly do we know about Thurston's Flow Critical Lucidity? Time to start a thread or summit? |
Waxahatchee – Tiger’s Blood (22.3)

yes yes yes!!! That's almost even better than a new Silver Mt Zion album :D I hope they'll do a tour in Europe as well, and that I can find the time and opportunity to catch them |
That's excellent re: Dirty Three

CAN - Live In Paris 1973 (February 23)
Charlie Parr - Little Sun (March 22) |
David Bowie - Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth) (out on Record Store Day, April 20). Basically an alternative version of Ziggy Stardust, with "four songs not on the final Ziggy tracklist".
Happy 77th birthday, ★-Man! |
