"The Last Show" on Double LP incoming
per Lee in this recent interview with Yamaha guitar
https://youtu.be/FeD42Z_uL6g about 29 minutes in he reveals officially I noticed in the 2023 thread how it the Brooklyn show went private but no confirmation on that until Lee says it also hey again |
I have no real insight, but my gut is telling me it'll come out on Three Lobed.
Also, the recording of the show runs about 93 minutes. There are two encore breaks that total around 5.5 minutes. Maybe I need to check my math but it seems like that is cutting it close for a double LP. Regardless, I'm stoked to check it out. I'd love to see some video from that show as well. |

Historically valuable, sure, but... I dunno - wasn't everyone except T completely miserable at this show?
|
I can’t recall interviews with how Lee or Steve felt, but seeing it live Lee seemed to be having fun, and it it maybe the tightest show I saw of the 27 times I saw
|
Lee said he knew it was the last. Mark Ibold didn't know.

You're thinking of the real last show, in South America. At the time of this, their final New York/North America show, no news had been announced about the split. It was actually thrilling to see a set list with ELEVEN songs I'd never heard live, and the implications of what this could mean for future tours. I think it was two months later that the full story came out.
I believe Steve has mentioned that he put this set list together with a bunch of wild tunes he didn't expect everyone to agree to, but they did - something special for their first (and sadly last) NYC show in a while. |
Chris is right. Kim has a passage in her book about how awkward those South American shows were. The NYC show sounds amazing and lots of fun.
Sometimes, I wonder if the inclusion of those old BMR songs had to be with the planning process for the Smart Bar release. But there was a lot of old songs included, not just the BMR ones, so who knows. |

bah, shipping costs to Europe are insane.
I'll wait and see if it can be obtained from somewhere else ... :( |
those test pressings went quick, loved the art for it but $200 is a lot for that
got the numbered LP and CDs (since I am just a Digital hound) |

Bingo Merch have coloured & black vinyl editions. The description suggests that the coloured one is the "hand-poured" edition, but I suspect not given it's half the price of that one on bandcamp. https://shop.bingomerch.com/collections/sonic-youth |
Looks like the pink/purple edition is a 700-only UK/Euro exclusive according to https://monorailmusic.com/product/li...brooklyn-2011/
So that's: - 15-only test press edition, instantly gone - 500-only bandcamp "hand poured" TMOQ edition - first 300 now sold-out? - ??-only US exclusive blue/pink vinyl ("Clear Ice blue and Lip Gloss Pink") - ??-only bandcamp exclusive green/pink vinyl ("Iridescent green and pink shimmer") - 700-only UK/EU pink/purple vinyl ("Electric Boogaloo / Cotton Candy Pink") - standard black vinyl - cassette - CD It's probably worth jumping on those Bingo pre-orders, it's coming in around £40 retail thru indie stores. |

Yeah, you can still get some test pressings of their earlier albums for much less than that. |
