The exhibition was nothing short of a revelation. An impressive massive body of work. So many artists and truly interesting works.

the "Live Drift" and "SY live at Paradiso" films we did were presented in a video archive which could be accessed by computer.

Really a must see, recommended!

Sonic Youth etc.: Sensational Fix to Open in January at Kunsthalle Dusseldorf

DUSSELDORF.- The exhibition is devoted to the activities of the experimental guitar band Sonic Youth, which profoundly influenced style in the music and art scene from its founding in 1981. This is shown by the numerous joint projects of the band with artists, filmmakers, designers, and musicians, as well as by works of art that Sonic Youth has selected for the exhibition. The interdisciplinary show tells an alternative story of contemporary culture, of teenager rebellion, the restlessness of youth, of the craving for fame and the search for identity, gender roles, sexuality, and religion. This comprehensive project is being staged jointly by the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf and KIT - Kunst im Tunnel. The exhibition will be shown first at LiFE in Saint-Nazaire (17 June - 7 September 2008), at the new Museion in Bozen (10 October 2008 - 4 January 2009), and after Düsseldorf at the Malmö Konsthall. Accompanied to the exhibition the band will give a concert in Düsseldorf.

So jealous. Glad for those of you who get to go though...
Thanks for the info.

Interesting... the exhibition seems to be constantly evolving. I like that.

I like the Michael Morley buttons too. I keep finding myself constantly drawn back to the piece of his that they are based upon.

Tokolosh 06.04.2009 03:06 AM

Roland Groenenboom has posted quite a lot of his material on Facebook.
A nice long video registration of Sensational Fix in Düsseldorf and 10 or so live videos
of the shows at Saint-Nazaire, Düsseldorf, Malmö and Sunburned where Thurston,
Lee, Steve and Michael Morley joined in. Awesome!

There's also a vid of Kim working on this^ one and photos of the exhibition preparations.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.
